Born in Chiangmai, the charming city in the north of Thailand, Tawandong grew up with the traditional Lanna culture and saw a rapid development of this ancient capital that experienced the wave of mass urbanization. Inside his household, Tawandong has began his journey in the kitchen where he helped his mother sort vegetables and cut meat and developed his taste and a genuine sense of cookery. At the age of 18, he relocated to Tokyo to explore new ideas and present to the local with redefined Thai cuisine that is more exciting and innovative.

A few years later, Tawandong enrolled at the prestigious School of The Oriental Hotel in Bangkok where he learned advanced techniques and shared his thoughts with like-minded apprentices. After finishing the course, he came back to Tokyo and worked in a variety of settings including restaurants like Mango Tree and Turntable. He also holds 'pop-up' cooking events that gather his friends and families and allow them to be the first to try his new dishes and exchange opinions.

Tawandong as a long-time resident of Japan has familiarized himself with the Japanese way of life, especially the aspect of dining, so he can always anticipate the interests and desires of his guests. Nevertheless, his effort to push boundary in the Thai cooking scene in Japan and to introduce a fresh view of Thai food to the Japanese will continue through his menus and an upcoming venture in Tokyo for years to come.
